I take great pleasure and pride in sharing my wisdom with others. Let me speak at your next event on any of my specialty topics listed below. All the subjects listed below can be tailored to meet your needs and desired length of presentation time. They can be presented at national or regional meetings, at retreats, organizational meetings or at your worksite.

Topics:

  • Intergenerational Communication in the Workplace
  • Networking: How to Make Your Contacts Count
  • Communication: Tools That Work

Intergenerational Communication in the Workplace

Today's workplace is comprised of five different generations of people working together. Each of these generations holds a different view of the world influenced by world events that have shaped each generation's place in history. Through exploration of these events and world views, it is possible to develop an understanding of why people react the way they do to any given situation and how to effectively communicate between diverse generations.

Generations Explored:

  • Veteran/traditionalist
  • Baby Boomers
  • Generation X
  • Millennial (Y Generation, Echo Boom, Baby Busters)
  • Fifth Generation: No consensus on name yet.

Largest "Generational" Challenges in the Workplace:

  • Beliefs are different.
  • Language use is different.
  • Reward systems and motivators are different.

How Can You Improve Intergenerational Communication?

  • Learn the key traits that make each generation unique.
  • Learn which communication tools work best with each generation.
  • Learn the three keys to helping an employee feel significant.
  • Learn how to help an employee feel valued by using a reward system appropriate for each generation.

Networking: How to Make Your Contacts Count

Networking is right up there with public speaking when it comes to the fear and terror it causes in a person's mind when they think about getting out there and networking.

Through the use of stories, demonstrations and humor I help break down the art of networking into steps that actually help the person understand networking can and should be fun.

What I cover in my Networking talks:

  • Networking defined
  • Three keys to communicating with people
  • Language Differences - Men and Women
  • Language Differences - Between Generations
  • Where do you find networking events?
  • How to read a newspaper so you find the events
  • How do you prepare to go to a networking event?
  • What do you do when you walk into a room?
  • How do you start and maintain a conversation?
  • How do you break away?
  • How do you follow up?
  • How do you write notes?
  • Why do you need a contact program?

Communication: Tools That Work

We can make communication much more complicated than necessary. Many young people never learn basic techniques while some of us have forgotten the tools that really help people hear what we are saying. Through humor and illustrations, I will show you how to open up a successful dialogue to improve communication with anyone.

In this talk I speak to:

  • Three things necessary for communication.
  • Influences that affect our way of thinking - understanding the why.
  • A skill everyone needs to have in his or her tool belt.
  • Tools for helping another person feel important.
  • Illustration to prove we do not know what the other person really means.
