Reading Corner

Here's a list of the books that are on my nightstand and coffee table. I trust you'll find them as helpful and interesting as I have.

“A Personal History:  Katharine Graham”

I am a great fan of biographies and autobiographies.  I am so glad I bought this book at a library book sale.   Ms. Graham not only captured my attention, she taught me a great deal about US history throughout her 627 pages.   It is a book that you can pick up and set down for she writes using chapters marking the various events.

Through her explanations of the events of her life she gave me an “insider” view of the women’s movement, the releasing of the Pentagon Papers, and the development of a career that was never intended.   Washington figures became real as she described meetings and dinners she carefully planned to make sure they were far more than just a social evening.

My one regret--How I wished I had paid more attention to her life and activities when she was alive.  No one can read this book without being moved---Ms. Graham revealed where/when she often felt vulnerable and shared with us how she grew and came to understand the real meaning of being human.

****** Highly Recommend this book
